Francesco Masci

The above photo was found on Brian Balderston's website. His photos are visually captivating. Mostly because they are just everyday things like the inside of a public NYC bathroom or a brick wall with tonal color blocking. I just spent about half an hour lost in his photo logs doing research for this post. See his photos and other works here. (including the one shown above)

The a-m-a-z-i-n-g leopard printed superhero shown above is the creation of artist Francesco Masci. He is an Italian artist originally from Rome and now residing in Brooklyn. I of course love his animals see his website here.

You Had me at Jungle

I found this awesome Lego creation one night and bookmarked it to write about when I had more time. I just thought it was an intense lego creation that deserved sharing...WELL ...you could imagine my surprise and utter happiness when I saw the attached description on its flickr page. clicker here to view his other creations.

Deep,
very deep,
ancient trees with ancient roots,
vines that wind, aligned through time
while reptiles dine upon rotting corpse

Parachute jumper, a former treasure hunter
Caught in trees canopies he struggles to break free

His map,
dropped and laid before him,
Showing him where he never made it.

Black snake bite hard,
the venom makes him feel elated

Struggle gone,
desire stolen,
he died slowly and felt golden,
Here in the jungle,
on the vine,
his corpse hangs for all of time...

Live with Animals

When I was riding my bike this weekend I came to a screeching halt on the corner of Kent and Metropolitan at the sight of a doorway with "Live with Animals" painted above it. You know this totally got my attention. It turned out to be an art instillation that converted the inside of the gallery to feel like you were outside. The entire floor was covered with real grass. If you are in Williamsburg, Bk and happen to be near Kent and Metropolitan you should peek your head in.

Guido Mocafico

I love the work of Guido Mocafico's. Specifically the Serpens Photography. He really captures the beauty and the grace in creatures that often come off slimy or scary( like tarantulas and jelly fish) You can view his other projects here. I highly recommend looking through Serpens part 1 and Serpens part 2 in his works. There is also a book out called Serpens for $60 at bn.com that features some of the photos above.
